You've won the David Frye Award. He not only captured Nixon's mannerisms but also radiated pure evil while getting laughs. I'm looking forward to an Alexa with Trump's voice which will answer your questions should you put a silver dollar in the slot.
Greetings from Paris, a somewhat closer time zone! Fuck Trump. Just finished Heather Cox Richardson ava Lucian Truscot and I'm thoroughly worked up. People here wonder WTF is going on in the USA. Hard to explain the inexplicable. Hope Portugal is treating you well.
Greetings back to you. One of the problems with being here is that much of the time it still feels like I'm in the U.S. That's understandable, but, Jesus, I thought it would be different.
Yes, certainly more similarities than I would've thought. I get out of whack looking at the news since it's 6 hours difference and I realize it's still in the middle of the night EDT when I usually first read the news. Plus my Phillies games start at 1:30 or 2:00 AM!
Don't know about where you are but Paris is absolutely jammed. I heard it's the #1 tourist destination in the world. And it feels like that. Went to the huge national music day on Saturday and it went from crowded to mobbed. My wife, son and new daughter-in-law were hanging on to each other to try and prevent separation but it took 4 hours to get back to our place as traffic didn't move. Otherwise, it's been good. My son started a job with a Parisian firm in January and so is living here now.
Maybe the best thing about Coimbra, Portugal is that it's still the place it was in February. It's crowded, there are many, many tourists but it's not overrun with them. It still feels manageable. You can get tables at restaurants, traffic is bad, but mostly because of construction, and the festivals are crowded but not suffocating. Porto and Lisbon, though, are nuts this time of year.
We did Porto, Lisbon, and southwestern France last September, perfect time, crowds very manageable. I think my wife might be trying to off me, insisting we ride bikes in Paris now. I starting to refuse because of traffic, construction, French drivers, French motorcycles and scooters, and French bikers. This has rarely happened but I don't feel safe in that mix right now.
Barry, you have an innate ability to 'channel,' however, as Tom pointed out recently, in these times satire, while not lost on your readers, is muted by the daily shit coming out of DC and other places. I've even mentioned that this isn't satire. HCR and Lucian Truscott are taking us seriously even as others tell us to 'get over it.' It is scary right now and none of us will survive this shit or live long enough to see a mocrum of change. Obama, Clinton, Bush, they're all hiding behind the 'respect the office' edict that went out the door on the day I had my gallbladder removed. He's in The Hague, saying how much he supports NATO and he 'understands' Article V and how much 'these people love their countries,' blah, blah, blah. I don't have the ability to be un-mad right now and I think that, even in exile, you should be concerned and scared as well. You still have Gregory and Nina here and they're just as vulnerable as the other 325 million of us who have to deal with this shit for God-knows how long.

Many people are saying he’s in full blown dementia now
Of course it’s full blown! He is, after all, the Obliterater in Chief.
It’s always 1946 somewhere.
