Wouldn't it be nice if we lived in a world where it was a given that God, if one is absolutely necessary for one's sanity, is equal opportunity for every last one of its creations, although the favorite prayers come from unexpected acts of kindness? You are I am sure grateful to have known such a person.

Last week, the Catholic Church came out with yet another broadside against Freemasonry. Why the Church threatens excommunication of any churchgoer who happens to be a Mason can be answered by the fact Masonry teaches its members that they are all on the level and that your belief in your particular Supreme Being is as valid as my belief in mine.

Belief in another Supreme Being? Equality among all members, regardless of social status? Why, that's fucking heresy.

And it's clear that Bishop Pearson--unlike what was his "flock"--Got. It. He'd of made a fine Mason.

May his memory be a blessing and may his beliefs live on in eternity.

Religious litmus tests are simultaneously hilarious, sophomoric, and cruel.

I always appreciated Bishop Pearson's enlighted view of inclusion. He will one day be proven correct in his philosophy.

Another heartwarming story...I would like to think that Jack told him to pull up a chair so they could tell each other stories

Who's going to be the voice of reason now? I hope he didn't feel like he made a mistake by stepping away from evangelical orthodoxy. It's too bad more adherents didn't follow him. Barry's less likely to make note of ORU's other more parochial "leaders."

Such a loss 💔. Bishop truly was a bright light. His legacy and message will endure, I have to believe that.
