Nancy Marchand was so good at being evil that I almost couldn't watch the screen when she was on it.
It was originally a resort hotel... in West Orange, NJ, back when it was a more rural area, a kind of mini-Catskills closer to NYC. Located along a thoroughfare named Pleasant Valley Way. A well-known songwriting couple moved to town at one point, and wrote a minor hit song about the area.
Greene's Hotel later did convert to a residence facility. The clientele was a mix of Jews and Italians, so Livia would have found a variety of people to despise.
