I was walking by a used furniture store a few mornings back when a woman coming from the opposite direction stopped me, which in my experience in Portugal just doesn’t happen.
She smiled.
That also doesn’t happen.
“Bom dia,” she said.
I extended my hand. She shook it.
“Bom Dia,” I said. “Como estás?” I asked because I didn’t know how to say, “Do I know you?” in Portuguese.
“Eu estou bem. E você?”
“Bom.”
She smiled again.
This was getting weird.
“How feet?” she asked.
