Watching the likes of New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, former Attorney General William Barr, and current Senators Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky), James Lankford (R-Oklahoma), and of course the ever pliant Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) the past few weeks and months— all who have occasionally criticized the flatulent monstrosity that is Donald Trump (and been applauded for it) — sheepishly slide over to him (some repeatedly), his flatulent monstrosity not withstanding, like dogs scooting on their butts to get close so he’ll pat them on the head makes you wonder if they represent the worst in today’s GOP? Or should our unedited disdain be reserved for those Republicans who have obediently genuflected in his direction for years, without pause, while fully embracing and championing Trump’s aforementioned flatulent monstrosity?
(Maybe I pushed that imagery a little.)
All of which brings us to Governor Kristi Noem (R-South Dakota) and her recital Sunday on CNN’s State of the Union. Noem, it should be noted, the governor of a state that’s more than 77,000 square miles, can’t actually go everywhere in it.
From CNN
Three tribes this year have barred Noem, who’s on former President Donald Trump’s vice president short list, from visiting their lands, with the latest action from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe announced on Wednesday. In February, the Oglala Sioux Tribe voted to bar Noem, and earlier this month, the Cheyenne River Sioux also voted to bar her as well. In all, Noem now is legally barred from entering about 10% of lands in the state she governs.
Noem puts the b-r-e-a-t-h-l-e-s-s- p-a-n-t-i-n-g in Trump sycophancy. It’s clear she would not only take a bullet for him, she’d shoot the guy on 5th Avenue who was bothering him.
